SBAP: Introduction to Medical Interpreting

Spanish Bilingual Assistant: Introduction to Medical Interpreting is a sixty-hour introduction to medical interpreting for people who speak English and Spanish. Students who take this class apply what they learn by providing bilingual service in health care settings. Many students also go on to serve as medical interpreters.

There are three main categories of study:

  1. Language: Increase & organize your medical vocabulary by reviewing each body system
  2. Culture: Learn techniques for helping people of different cultures communicate
  3. Practice: Build interpreter skills & knowledge (memory, position, making decisions, more)

This program will be provided twice a year at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
